Geography

At St Michael’s CE Primary School, our Geography curriculum inspires children to develop a curiosity about the world and understand their place within it. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, pupils explore a wide range of places, cultures and environments, from their local area in Bartley Green and Birmingham to locations across the United Kingdom and the wider world. Children develop key geographical skills through map work, fieldwork, enquiry and the study of both human and physical geography, enabling them to investigate questions, interpret evidence and think critically about the world around them. A strong focus on sustainability helps pupils understand how people, places and environments are interconnected and encourages them to consider their role in caring for the planet. Through memorable learning experiences, educational visits and practical fieldwork, children grow into confident, informed and responsible global citizens who value diversity, respect different perspectives and are equipped to make a positive contribution to the world.
