Science
At St Michael’s CE Primary School, our Science curriculum inspires children to develop curiosity, ask questions and explore the world around them through practical investigation and scientific enquiry. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, pupils build their knowledge and understanding across biology, chemistry and physics while developing the skills to think and work like scientists. Children are encouraged to investigate, predict, observe, measure, record and evaluate through a range of hands-on enquiries, helping them to develop confidence in explaining how the world works. Learning is designed to build progressively on prior knowledge, enabling pupils to make meaningful connections between scientific concepts and real-life experiences. A strong focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility helps children understand the importance of caring for the natural world, while learning about a diverse range of scientists broadens their understanding of the impact of science on society. By the end of primary school, pupils are confident, inquisitive learners with the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to continue their scientific journey and make sense of the world around them.
