Art
At St Michael’s CE Primary School, our Art and Design curriculum inspires children to develop their creativity, imagination and confidence while nurturing their individual talents. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum delivered using Kapow Primary, pupils explore drawing, painting, sculpture, craft and design, developing a wide range of artistic skills and knowledge as they progress from the Early Years to Year 6. Children learn about a diverse range of artists, cultures and artistic traditions, helping them to appreciate art as a global and inclusive subject. Through practical experiences, sketchbook work, creative experimentation and reflection, pupils develop the ability to express their ideas, make thoughtful artistic choices and evaluate their own work. Our curriculum encourages curiosity, resilience and independent thinking, enabling every child to flourish as a confident young artist while developing respect for different perspectives and a lifelong appreciation of creativity.
