Our Vision for Diversity

At St Michael’s CE Primary, our commitment to diversity is rooted in our vision, “Courage to Flourish in the Love of God.” We believe every child is unique, valued and deserving of the opportunity to see themselves and others positively represented. Our inclusive curriculum broadens pupils’ horizons, challenges stereotypes and develops respect for people of different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, identities, families, abilities and experiences.

Diversity is embedded throughout school life, from the Early Years to Year 6 and across every subject. Pupils encounter a rich range of voices, perspectives, role models, religions, worldviews and cultures through thoughtfully selected texts, learning experiences and resources. Age-appropriate teaching about equality and the protected characteristics helps children understand that prejudice and discrimination are unacceptable, while nurturing empathy, curiosity and a strong sense of belonging.

This learning is strengthened through collective worship, assemblies, educational visits, visitors, pupil leadership, charitable work and community partnerships. By listening to pupils and regularly reviewing our curriculum, we continue to improve representation and inclusion across the school. Our aim is for every child to feel recognised and valued, appreciate both difference and shared humanity, and grow into a compassionate, responsible and informed citizen
