At St Michael’s CE Primary School, our Design and Technology curriculum inspires children to become creative, confident and reflective designers, makers and problem-solvers. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum delivered using Kapow Primary, pupils develop their skills and knowledge across structures, mechanisms, textiles, cooking and nutrition, electrical systems and the digital world. Children follow the design process of designing, making, evaluating and developing technical knowledge, applying their learning to real-life contexts and purposeful projects. Through hands-on experiences, pupils learn to think critically, take creative risks, refine their ideas and create products that meet the needs of users. Our curriculum promotes resilience, innovation and independence, while encouraging children to consider how design impacts people, communities and the wider world. By the end of primary school, pupils leave with the confidence, practical skills and creativity needed to continue their learning and become thoughtful designers of the future.
