Our Scripture

“I have come that [you] may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10)

Our interpretation of this passage is that Jesus is employing us all to enjoy our lives and be accepting of the fact that there will lows. We live this out through:

  • An expectation that we deliver a truly broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Excellent pastoral support for our pupils / students as well as our staff, with systems to support them when they are going through times of difficulty or hardship.
  • We are compassionate to those suffering and we seek to help and support them the best that we can.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

This verse is part of the story of Joshua, who was chosen by God to lead the Israelites after the death of Moses. God reassures Joshua that he should be strong and courageous as he takes on the responsibility of leading the people into the Promised Land.

This scripture serves as a powerful reminder of the unwavering presence of God in our lives. At St Michael’s, this verse holds special significance as it resonates with the school’s ethos of strength, courage and support for all individuals within the community.

By choosing this scripture, we aim to draw a parallel between the enduring strength and courage exemplified by both Joshua and the Archangel St Michael, and the guidance and support that God provides to us in our daily lives. It serves as a beacon of inspiration for us to stand united, fortified by faith, and to approach all endeavours with resilience and determination.

Fundamentally, this scripture encapsulates the essence of St Michael’s as a nurturing environment where every individual is uplifted and encouraged to face challenges with unwavering faith and courage, knowing that they are never alone on their journey.

In the context of our school vision, this verse is used to inspire courage and resilience in the school community, reminding everyone that God is with them on their journey towards fulfilling their potential and experiencing life in all its fullness.
