Physical Education (PE)

At St Michael’s CE Primary School, our Physical Education curriculum inspires children to develop the confidence, resilience and determination needed to lead healthy, active lives. Through a broad and balanced programme delivered using PE Hub, pupils take part in a wide range of sports and physical activities, including games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, outdoor and adventurous activities, and swimming. Children progressively develop their physical skills, tactical understanding, teamwork and leadership through two PE lessons each week, while learning the importance of respect, fairness and good sportsmanship. Opportunities to reflect on their performance help pupils build confidence, perseverance and a positive attitude towards challenge. Beyond the curriculum, a range of extra-curricular clubs and competitive sporting events further enrich pupils’ experiences and encourage lifelong participation in physical activity. By the end of primary school, pupils have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy sport, maintain an active lifestyle and contribute positively as members of a team.
