Music

At St Michael’s CE Primary School, our Music curriculum inspires children to develop a love of music while building confidence, creativity and self-expression. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum delivered using Kapow Primary, pupils explore a wide range of musical experiences through listening, performing, composing, improvising and learning musical notation. Children develop their skills in singing, playing instruments and responding to music from a variety of cultures, genres and historical periods, helping them to appreciate music as a diverse and shared human experience. Regular opportunities to perform, collaborate and reflect enable pupils to grow in confidence and musicality, while specialist opportunities, including whole-class brass tuition in Year 3 and extra-curricular music lessons, further enrich their learning. By the end of primary school, pupils have developed the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to continue their musical journey and a lifelong appreciation of the power of music.
