Nursery Curriculum
In Nursery, our curriculum provides our youngest children with the strong foundations they need to feel safe, settled and ready to learn. We prioritise communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, physical development, independence, self-care and positive relationships.
Children learn through play, stories, songs, routines, first-hand experiences and high-quality adult interaction. Our curriculum is carefully planned to build children’s confidence, curiosity, vocabulary, social skills and independence over time.
Children explore meaningful themes such as themselves and their families, special times, people who help us, homes, farms, transport and transition into Reception. These themes provide rich opportunities for children to develop language, knowledge and skills through practical, hands-on experiences.
Adults adapt teaching, provision, routines and support to meet children’s individual needs and starting points. Rising 3s access the Nursery curriculum through developmentally appropriate adaptations, with a strong focus on settling, relationships, communication, routines, self-care, physical confidence and early play.
